Is Permanent Eyeliner Suitable for You?

As much as women love to wear makeup, there are still many that are afraid of eyeliner. It isn't the most enjoyable thing in the world when you're trying to apply it with any measure of accuracy. However, with permanent eyeliner, you can put your fears at ease for good. With this procedure, pigment is implanted into the eyelid with a microneedle. This is done close to or along the lash line giving it a more natural look.

When deciding if you would like permanent makeup or not, make sure you consider what type of style application is right for you. Here are a few things to consider.

Styles

Eyeliner isn't a decision that you can make lightly. It would be best if you considered a few things before going for a permanent makeup tattoo. Eyeliner tattoos are permanent, so if you decide to go with the procedure, it will be there for a long time – so be sure of your choice!

There are a few different styles of permanent eyeliner: there's the tight line, there's also regular eyeliner, shaded, winged – anything you can do with pencil or liquid liner we can also do with permanent eyeliner.

A tight line is done right along your lash line and darkens your eyelashes, making them look fuller and thicker. With regular eyeliner, just mark whatever shape and size you want, and voila! It will look like your everyday liner without you having to do anything.

Process

The permanent makeup procedure begins with flushing the area with a mild antibacterial and anti-inflammatory solution to reduce discomfort and inflammation. Afterward, pigment is inserted into the uppermost layer of your skin using a handpiece device that injects ink into your dermis through a tiny circular tip.

Numbing cream may be applied if you feel it's necessary. And finally, after cleansing your face, any residue is removed before a thin coat of eye ointment is applied to speed up healing time.

Does It Hurt?

There are many different types of permanent makeup available for clients to choose from, but eyebrows and eyeliner are two of the most popular. The procedure, however, is less painful than what people tend to assume it will be. So, you will not leave the studio in unbearable pain.

Most patients reported that they experienced a relatively comfortable level of pain throughout the session – although some did say it got a bit uncomfortable once the numbing cream began to wear off!

What to Expect from Healing

The healing process for permanent eyeliner is relatively basic and comes with no surprises. After the procedure, you can go home right away. There may be slight swelling, but you can still go about your daily routine.

You should not wear mascara for at least one week after the eyeliner treatment as this can lead to infection rather than preventing it. As the pigment begins to settle and the tint heals, you may experience minor scabbing, but ideally, this will be minimal.

You should not peel the scabs off the skin as this could cause more damage than good and may even completely wipe out any hopes of having sustained colour saturation in the first place!

The tighter line eyeliner will usually heal within three days, while it could take seven or ten days for thicker lines because they require more time to settle properly until they don't feel "tight" anymore.
